The Embassy of Finland in Lusaka maintains and enhances relations between Finland, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe within the framework of Finnish foreign, trade, and development cooperation policies as well as the common goals of the European Union. The Embassy’s main activities include development cooperation, the safeguarding and promotion of Finland's national interests abroad and the supervision of interests and rights of Finnish citizens in Zambia.
The objective of development cooperation is to achieve concrete results in the promotion of sustainable economic growth, ultimately aimed at poverty reduction. Environmentally and economically sustainable development constitutes the foundation for cooperation and strengthens the public sector’s capacity to implement policies.
Zambia is Finland’s long-term development cooperation partner, whilst Zimbabwe’s transitional government is supported in its post-conflict recovery. In Malawi, again, the main focus is on support to the civil society.
The Embassy of Finland provides services for Finnish companies interested in investing in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi, and aims to link African businesses to Finnish ones offers consular services and security for Finnish citizens and grants travel documents for foreign nationals wishing to travel to Finland. Importantly, the Embassy promotes image of Finland abroad.
